Monster Hammerhead Shark Killed in Saham

Endangered hammerhead shark caught and killed in Saham. It really saddens me to see such an enormous thing of beautiful killed like this especially a creature on the endangered species list like the hammerhead shark.

I’m still in awe of the pictures for multiple reasons. It’s huge, I’ve never see a giant hammerhead like this before. I’m also in awe as it looks as how these people mistreated nature like this.

If anyone has any more information about this story I’d love to hear from you, leave a comment here or on FB.

Hammerhead sharks should definitely be protected at all cost and it’s never right to kill them like this. They are however, one of the top 10 deadliest sharks toward humans, but they do not rank very high on the list as there are only a handful of hammerhead shark attacks on humans.

Bull Shark Attacked by Brutus

The infamous monster crocodile “Brutus” of the Adelaide River found a tasty treat just before a tour boat drove by in Australia.

It was Andrew Paice who took these amazing images of the massive saltwater crocodile feasting on a smaller bull shark.

It’s not as uncommon as one would think for saltwater crocodiles to eat bull sharks.

Bull sharks are often found swimming into fresh water rivers connected to the ocean in search of food and they can sometimes get stuck in the shallower river banks which makes them easy pickings for larger predators.

Meet Brutus – The Giant One Armed Crocodile

Sharks and crocodiles are both fearsome predators, but who would win in a fight if you took the biggest baddest of all living sharks and put it up against the biggest baddest living saltwater crocodile?

Both of them can grow to be over 20 feet long and have their advantages in a fight.

Mysterious Animal Noise Baffles Scientist

An underwater noise so loud that it was heard almost across the world. Scientist remain puzzled at this bizarre phenomenon. No explanation on this planet can solve the strange happening of this terrifying sound made by something…very large.

Could this be the World’s Biggest Animal Ever?

This is known as the Bloop which is an ultra-low frequency and super loud noise from deep within the ocean discovered by the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration aka NOAA sometime in 1997.

Jurassic Spider Eats Birds

Rumpelstiltskin’s got nothing on the golden silk orb-weaver spider when it comes to spinning golden thread. This spider doesn’t even need straw as a raw material. Among it’s many other amazing uses, it’s silk can even repair human nerve cells.

They are more commonly known as banana spiders, not to be confused with the Brazilian wandering spider which is the world’s deadliest spider, these banana spiders live in the warmer areas of the Americas from North Carolina to Argentina.

Meet the Golden Silk Orb Weaver Spider

Their genus name Nephila in Ancient Greek means “fond of spinning” but their origin is way older then Ancient Greek times.

Nephila spiders are the oldest surviving spider genus in the world, dating back 165 million years to the middle Jurassic period, so maybe they’ll throw them in the next Jurassic Park Sequel.

Now they may not be Jurassic sized like the giant huntsman spider, the largest spider in the world, but a 2 and ¾ inch banana spider was seen catching, killing, and eating an entire finch, and another one in Queensland Australia was seen killing and eating a foot and a half long brown tree snake.

Golden orb-weavers have a venom with a neuro-toxic effect similar to black widow spider but MUCH less powerful. If one bit YOU, the redness and swelling would be gone in about a day. People have described the bite as being much less severe than even a bee sting.

nephila clavipes

Speaking of bees let’s talk about the AMAZING strength AND uses for the silk orb-weavers webbing.

With the thickness of a human hair It has the strength to stop a bee flying 12.5 mph, almost twice the top speed of a house fly.

It’s 6 x stronger than steel and even stronger then Kevlar, but possibly it’s best quality is that it’s very stretchy.

These three qualities has lent too a WIDE variety of uses for the spider’s silk webbing.

It’s been used to produce the cross hairs in microscope eyepieces, spun into violin strings in Japan, and even used to make an entire golden cape.

Fisherman in the indo pacific ocean ball it up and throw it into the water where it expands to become a net to catch bait fish, and natives in the South Pacific eat the pregnant females, raw or roasted, as aprotein supplement.

The most amazing potential use for the golden silk orb-weaver’s webbing is in the field of medicine. Research is being done involving the growth of nerve cells ON the web filaments, and then using those as nerve grafts.

The beauty is that the immune system doesn’t  recognize the silk so the body won’t attack or reject it. Now there’s a spider that can be called a productive member of society.

Baby Dino Cloned?

Is this the real life image of a newborn cloned dinosaur?

Recently I was sent a link on Facebook to a news site that reported that Scientists at Liverpool’s John Moore University had successfully cloned a dinosaur.

According to the story the scientists were able to extract apatosaurus DNA from preserved fossils and inject it into a fertile ostrich womb.

Did British Scientists Clone a Dinosaur?

Apparently Ostriches share a lot of genetic traits with dinosaurs and would be the most viable method of fertilization.

The article goes on to claim that the newborn, fondly named “spot” was incubating at the University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.

Are we on the path to a real life Jurassic Park?

Its an interesting but scary thought.

A hatchling can easily weigh as much as a watermelon. Can you imagine a full grown apatosaurus on display at a zoo? They can grow to be 75 feet long, that’s bigger t han 3 elephants.

**How could you even contain such a beast? But wait… is cloning even possible?

Scientists have been able to clone animals such as sheep for years. There was the famous case of Dolly the cloned sheep who was born in 1996, but died in 2003.

What about cloning a dinosaur?

Well researchers from Manchester University attempted to do just that.

Using the most advanced extraction methods available they were completely unable to reclaim any DNA – ancient or otherwise.

Because DNA molecules just don’t last that long and only have a half-life of around 500 years. So there is no way they could extract DNA from something over 10,000 or 150 millions years old.

A quick search on the web revealed that the story was a hoax!

Can you guess what this animal really was?

It turned out to just be a baby kangaroo.

So will we ever see a real life Jurassic park?

Scientists say we would have a better chance if we created a time machine, than cloning.

2nd American Infected with Ebola

Monkeys carry Ebola Virus

Another American has been infected with the Ebola virus since this new outbreak in July and August of 2014. The missionary Nancy Writebol is expected to land in Atlanta, Georgia tomorrow after spending time in Liberia.

Ebola has killed more than 700 people in 2014 since the outbreak of this deadly non-curable virus. This is the first time that patients infected with the virus will be getting treatment in the United States.

This un-curable disease is spread by monkeys and is capable of wiping out an entire city’s population as it spreads fast and can kill you within a matter of a few days once you show signs.

2014 Ebola Virus Outbreak lands in America

An American doctor who was recently infected with the Ebola virus has refused to seek treatment. The United States government is confident that they have the deadly virus under control as they are telling its citizens to remain calm.

Mysterious Sea Creature - Pyrosome

An extremely rare and terrifying deep sea creature was recently found with an animal trapped inside. What you are looking at is a Pyrosome.

A pyrosome is a free floating tunicate that is actually made up of a colony of 1,000′s of individual creatures known as zooids. These zooids range in size… and can be as tiny as coin with some reaching lengths of several meters or 10 feet.

Meet the Rare Pyrosome

Each of these are actually physically connected to each other sharing the same tissue and… are capable… of cloning each other.

human-centipede-2They can grow to over 60 feet long with some rumored to be over 100 feet in length. That’s bigger than 3 double decker buses. Have you seen the movie…The Human Centipede?

While it may look terrifying, it’s not really a threat to humans, as like many other giants of the sea it’s just a filter feeder.

To feed, each zooid filters water through a basket that allows it to internally extract tiny plant cells to eat

The filtered water is then slowly shot out which allows it to propel.. and move throughout ocean This majestic creature can sometimes be found at the surface of the open ocean as well as in the dark hyperbaric regions of the deep sea.

creature-mystery-pyrosome-jellyrare-species-pyrosome

Pyro-soma which comes from the greek words “pyro” for fire and “soma” for body. Fire Bodies

Their natural color is pink..or white and they are “bioluminescent” which means they are able to flash a blue-greenish light which can be seen from 100 feet away.

They do this when engery is produced and released from chemical reactions inside the body.

This is similar to glow worms, fireflies, hatchefish, and other deep sea creatures. Some use it for mating or defense while others like the cookiecutter shark we’ll covering in tomorrow’s video, will use this light.. to lure in it’s prey.

So when these guys light up, each individual zooid is capable of emitting light, and when it does, the neighbors do too. Sometimes the light from one colony will cause entire other coloneys to start lighting up…

as if.. they’re communicating…

One diver described his experience with a pyrosome saying “it felt like an exquisitely soft feather boa.”

rebecca-helm-pyrosome

Rebecca Helm

But don’t venture too close, or swim up inside one because in August of last year [August 3rd 2013], a pyrosome about as long as I am was discovered with a dead penguin trapped inside.

These deep sea creatures remain so mysterious that some scientists belief that studying this rare species may help in developing new treatments of many diseases by bringing us to new understandings of cell biology.

We simply just don’t know a lot about these colony-based creatures. As Rebecca Helm likes to say “Pyrosomes are like unicorns” “Completely improbable, utterly mysterious”
